Flashback: The Classics!

It really isn't that long ago that Brisbane Airport had regular classics flying around. We still have some (B733s and B734s) but go back 3-6 years and we still had regular B732s, B742s, B743s, B727s and MD80s flying around. We still have two MD-80s based in BNE however they haven't flown for over a year, and we still have a 727 base here however it is no longer airworthy. Anyway here are some of my photos of these classics.

Norfolk Air Boeing 737-200 VH-OZD next to Heavylift Cargo Boeing 727-227F RP-C8019. The Heavylift B727 was based here and the Norfolk Air B732 was a common visitor. Photo taken in April 2009.

OzJet Boeing 737-200 VH-OBN. The OzJet Boeing 737-200s were a very common site in BNE. Photo taken in September 2008.

Qantas Boeing 747-300 VH-EBY. Qantas B743s were very common in BNE in there early years. They then became a rare site in BNE before making a return in 2008 just before retirement. Photo taken in December 2008.

Mineralogy MD-82 VP-CBI. Billionaire Clive Palmer owns two MD-82s which are both still BNE based. However they haven't flown for over a year now. He used to use both aircraft regularly and also the now defunct Gold Coast United FC which he owned. Photo taken in March 2010.

JAL Boeing 747-300 JA8166. JAL used to have two flights a day into BNE operated by a mix of Boeing 747-200s/300s and 400s. Photo taken in January 2007.

JAL Boeing 747-300 JA8184 Reso'cha livery. This beautiful aircraft used to be a regular in BNE. Photo taken in June 2007.

DHL Boeing 727-2J4F VH-DHE. This aircraft was Sydney based and used on flights to New Zealand. It did however visit BNE a few times a year on charters. Photo taken in June 2010.
