China Southern set to increase Brisbane flights

China Southern will add an extra flight each week from 31 March, bringing frequencies on the airlines Guangzhou to Brisbane route to five flights per week. The announcment was made a little more than a week before the airline commenced a three times weekly seasonal service on the triangular Guangzhou-Brisbane-Cairns-Guangzhou route, bringing total frequencies to Brisbane up to daily. This seasonal service will come to an end from 1 March, bringing frequencies to Brisbane back down to four flights per week making the announcement of an additional service most welcome.

The schedule will remain the same with flights departing Guangzhou at 21:15, arriving into Brisbane the following day at 08:25, using the flight number CZ381. The return service, CZ382 will depart Brisbane at 09:55, arriving back into Guangzhou at 17:00. Flights will continue to be operated by the airlines Airbus A330-300 fleet. Flights will operate out of Brisbane, every day except Fridays and Sundays.

UPDATE: China Southern has postponed the planned 5th weekly flight to Brisbane. The extra service has been pushed back two and a half months and will now commence on June 19.

Malaysian Airlines set to increase Brisbane service to daily

Malaysian Airlines have announced that services to Brisbane will increase from five flights per week to daily. Effective 17 September, Brisbane will once again have daily flights by Malaysian Airlines and daily services to Kuala Lumpur.

Flights will continue to arrive and depart in darkness. MH135 departs Kuala Lumpur at 09:40, arriving into Brisbane at 19:45. The return service, MH134 will depart Brisbane at 23:20, arriving back into Kuala Lumpur at 05:50 the next day. Flights will continue to be operated by the airlines new Airbus A330-300 fleet.

Tiger Airways announce return to the Sunshine Coast

 

Tiger Airways Australia have announced that they will re-commence flights between Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast. Tiger will start with four flights per week from March 27, increasing to daily from May 31.  

Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights will depart Melbourne at 08:10 in the morning on Mondays and Fridays and 09:05 on Wednesdays and Fridays, arriving into the Sunshine Coast at 10:25 and 11:20 respectively. The return service will depart the Sunshine Coast at 10:55 on Mondays and Fridays and 11:50 on Wednesdays and Sundays, arriving back into Melbourne at 13:20 and 14:15 respectively.

When flights increase to daily from May 31, all flights will depart Melbourne at 09:05 except the Saturday service which will depart Melbourne at 08:10.

Tiger Airways first commenced flight to the Sunshine Coast back on 1 December 2007 with three flights per week from Melbourne. The number of flights grew to daily and on 27 March 2011, the number of Tiger Airways flights to the Sunshine Coast doubled with the addition of a daily service from Sydney. Not long after the launch of this new route it was announced it would be cancelled from 1 August 2011 to simplify there Australian operations. However the flights finished a month earlier on 1 July 2011 due to the grounding of Tiger Airways Australia which also claimed the daily service from Melbourne.

Now with Tiger's Australian operations almost back to normal, the Sunshine Coast will be getting Tiger back. In addition to this route, Tiger will double flights to Cairns with a new daily service from Sydney. The low cost carrier will also return to Alice Springs with four flights per week from both Sydney and Melbourne.
