Jetstar's first 787 delivered and routes announced!

Jetstar's first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner has finally arrived in Australia. VH-VKA arrived in Melbourne yesterday in the early afternoon. The aircraft flew from Paine Field via Honolulu on delivery to Jetstar with many important people and media on-board including the Qantas CEO Alan Joyce.

To coincide with the delivery of the first Dreamliner, Jetstar announced the routes that the aircraft would operate. The inaugural flight will be on Wednesday 13 November and will be from Melbourne to the Gold Coast. I will be on-board this flight along with many other aviation enthusiasts. On Thursday 14 November the aircraft will fly from Melbourne-Cairns and return. From 15 November through til 16 December the aircraft will operate JQ944/947 MEL-CNS-MEL and JQ444/447 MEL-OOL-MEL on a daily basis. From December 18 the aircraft will move from domestic to international routes operating MEL-DPS-MEL on a daily basis.

Between now and November the aircraft will operate a number of proving and training flights. The 787 will be on the Gold Coast tomorrow, arriving at 1105 and departing at 1400. It will be back on Sunday 20 October arriving at 1030. There will probably be other flights as well. It will be in Cairns on Saturday 26 October as well.
